My Kufi

My Kufi is a story about a young boy’s journey to discovering what it means to be visibly Muslim & taking pride in his identity as a Muslim. 

Jaysh, the main character, is confronted with challenges that allow him to grow and gain security in his identity as a Muslim.

The My Kufi team has worked diligently to develop a cool reading experience that promises to be an educational and engaging program for our young Muslims.

The My Kufi Reading Experience is approximately 2 to 3 hours long. The program is geared towards promoting literacy and driving home the important concepts/values taught in the book. 

The goal of this program is to cultivate the developmental growth of the youth in our Islamic communities, with a focus on the following learning objectives:

To gain an understanding of the importance of identity & exploration

To develop pride in one’s Islamic identity

To encourage exploration & promote the many benefits derived from nurturing a child’s curiosity {of life and the world around them}

To encourage one to stand up for one’s self & what one believes/practices

The My Kufi Reading Experience includes an icebreaker game called My Kufi Bingo, followed by the reading itself, then the Build a Kufi activity (Build a Tiara/Crown for the girls), and a fashion show the kids put on afterward where they get to display their awesome creation!

This program is great for both boys and girls ages 5-10.
