Boys to Men Adventure Retreat

If so, the GCLEA Boys to Men Adventure Retreat may be just what you are looking for.

This program is designed to help young Muslim males (ages 10 to 16) gain the confidence, skills, and support they need to realize their full potential as they transition into manhood.

They will enjoy this 2-day and 2-night adventure retreat which includes individual and team challenges, essential skills, powerful presentations, inspirational campfire storytelling, and character-building for young Muslim men and their father figures in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment.

Help them define who they want and need to be as Muslim men!

The curriculum will include:

• The Islamic concept of Masculinity
• The concepts of faith-based responsibility and accountability
• Wilderness Survival Skills
• Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Development
• The Impact of Technology on the Developing Brain
• Islamic Character-building for Young Men

A father's ONLY orientation will be held on Friday, August 19 from 7:00-8:15 pm.

FAQs

Can my 9.5-year-old son attend?

Sorry, he will have to wait until he turns a full 10 years of age. This program requires a high level of maturity from the selected age group.

What is the address of the venue?

French Creek State Park, 843 Park Rd, Elverson, PA 19520

We will be camping at group site 1.

What is included in the registration fees?

Lodging, food, and activities. Participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks.

What will we be eating?

We have planned a healthy and hearty CAMP-STYLE menu which will be made available throughout the camp. There will be two main meals (brunch and dinner). Participants are encouraged to bring personal snacks/food as they see fit.

Will Wi-Fi be available?

No.

Will there be cell service?

Cell service is not guaranteed in the park. According to the park ranger service AT&T and T-Mobile have the best coverage in certain areas of the park.

What type of accommodations are available?

Primitive cabins will be available. The cabins have multiple bunks and electricity. There is no AC/Heat. Participants are also welcome to bring and stay in their own tent.

Will transportation be provided?

No.  Participants will need to arrange their own transportation to and from the park.

What are the start and end times?

Start time: Friday, August 23rd at 6pm EST

End time: Sunday, August 25th, at 5pm EST

I cannot attend but would like to send my son. Is that possible?

No, this program is designed for boys to learn in collaboration with their father-figures.

Is there required gear?

Yes, participants can find the required gear list HERE. 

Is there a prerequisite?

No, this program does not assume any prerequisite knowledge but participants should expect to be active and walk at least 3-5 miles per day.

What if there is inclement weather?

We will keep our eyes on the forecast and if it looks like the event could be rained out, we will cancel the program and provide a full refund. Please keep receipts of any gear you purchase in the event that you chose to return it.
