Welcome to GCLEA's New Muslim Cohort!

At GCLEA, we are honored to offer a comprehensive, three-tiered learning pathway designed to support new Muslims from their very first steps to confident, sustained growth in the faith. Our program brings together mentorship, structured study, and community-centered learning—guiding each student from the essentials of prayer and purification, through the foundational teachings of Islam, and onward to deeper exploration of spirituality, Qur’anic insight, and the life of the Prophet ﷺ. Whether you have just embraced Islam or are ready to expand your understanding, this thoughtfully crafted journey provides clarity, companionship, and a clear path forward as you build your life upon faith.

The Essentials Program: Guided Mentorship and Community Integration

The Essentials Program is a one-on-one mentorship track designed to support those who have recently embraced Islam. Its primary goal is to help new Muslims confidently learn the core practices of the faith: performing ritual purification (wuḍūʾ and ghusl), learning the movements and words of prayer, and reciting Sūrat al-Fātiḥah correctly at a beginner level.

Beyond the technical aspects, the program focuses on healthy and warm integration into the Muslim community. Your assigned mentor will introduce you to fellow community members, help familiarize you with the masjid’s spaces and etiquette, and ensure you feel welcomed, supported, and spiritually grounded. It is a gentle beginning—focused on confidence, connection, and taking the first steps with clarity.

The Pathway Program: Structured Foundations of Faith and Practice

The Pathway Program is a structured group-learning experience that builds upon the basics and introduces students to the broader foundations of Islamic faith and daily practice. Using Mukhtaṣar al-Ifādāt as its core curriculum, the program offers a clear and organized journey through essential topics such as creed, worship, Islamic character, lawful and unlawful matters, and the etiquettes of religious life.

This level is designed as the bridge between basic practice and deeper study. Students engage with a classical text in a guided, accessible format—developing discipline, consistency, and a well-rounded understanding of Islamic belief and practice. The Pathway Program provides the intellectual and spiritual structure needed for long-term growth and prepares students for more advanced exploration.

The Discovery Program: Spirituality, Qur’anic Insight, and the Prophetic Way

The Discovery Program offers opportunities for continued learning beyond the foundational levels. It introduces students to a wider range of Islamic subjects—spirituality, tafsīr, the Prophet’s biography, ethics, and more—through special programs that nurture curiosity and personal growth.

This level includes thematic workshops, community learning events, short courses, book clubs, and the annual retreat. It is designed for those who wish to deepen their connection to Allah, expand their knowledge, and experience Islam in community-centered, spiritually uplifting settings. The Discovery Program encourages learners to explore the beauty, depth, and richness of the Islamic tradition at a comfortable, inspiring pace.
