Umdat al-Talib Registration

This 18-week course will thoroughly cover the introductory chapters on purification and prayer from the Hanbali classic, Umdat al-Talib by al-Buhuti. Students will gain a much more in-depth understanding of the topic as well as some of the more nuanced issues related to the use of evidence in the Hanbali school.

This is an online course that is delivered through the Canvas platform. Instructional videos are prerecorded so that students can work at their own pace with weekly deadlines. Instructions on how to enroll and use canvas will be provided after registration.

Students will be required to read short excerpts in the text, watch course videos, take weekly multiple-choice quizzes, possibly attend several live sessions, and pass a final exam. 

Students must have successfully completed the prerequisite course Bidayat al-Abid to enroll in this course.

Classes begin on Monday, July 26! 

Students who complete all assigned tasks and score an 80%+ average for the course will be eligible to receive an ijazah to narrate the text once they complete the entire book.
